Rental terms and conditions

The agreement between you and Ride Iberia when you rent a motorcycle from us. Please read before you book. Last updated June 2026.

By booking and paying the deposit, you accept these terms. If anything is unclear, email hello@rideiberia.com before you book.

1.The rental agreement

These rental conditions form part of the agreement between Ride Iberia (hereafter “Ride Iberia” or “we”) with registered offices in Vigo, Galicia, Spain and Porto, Portugal, and the customer (hereafter “Hirer” or “you”). Any deviation, supplement or variation is valid only in writing, signed by both parties.

The subject of the agreement is the rental of the reserved motorcycle(s) for the period and at the price agreed at booking. The Hirer plans the route and rides the motorcycle under their own responsibility. The daily rental price includes the motorcycle, full coverage insurance with €450 excess, two side panniers and a top case, GPS route files, 24/7 roadside assistance, luggage storage at the garage, and Spanish VAT (21%) unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Motorcycles in the fleet are the property of Ride Iberia or of partner garages working with Ride Iberia. In either case, this contract governs the relationship between the Hirer and Ride Iberia.

2.Booking and payment

All bookings are made through ride-iberia.com following the steps in the configurator. On confirmation, the Hirer receives an email with the reservation reference, the rental price, the pickup and return details, and a link to these terms.

Payment is collected as follows:

  • Deposit at booking: €450 per bike via WooPayments. This is the booking guarantee.
  • Balance on arrival: the bike rental at €114/day per bike, any pickup or delivery fee, and selected gear add-ons, paid by card or cash at pickup.

For Full Concierge tier bookings, a €250 planning fee is added to the deposit at booking. Ride Iberia reserves the right to substitute the booked motorcycle for an equivalent model in case of mechanical failure, theft, accident damage to the original bike, or force majeure. If no equivalent is available, Ride Iberia will refund any price difference. This is the maximum liability of Ride Iberia for substitution.

3.Cancellation and rescheduling

Cancellation by the Hirer:

  • More than 14 days before the start of the rental: 100% deposit refund.
  • Between 14 and 7 days: 50% of the deposit is held as credit for a future rental within 12 months.
  • Less than 7 days or no-show: no refund and no credit.
  • Early return of the motorcycle during the rental period: no partial refund.

Rescheduling: the Hirer may change rental dates once at no charge, with at least 48 hours’ notice before the original pickup date. New dates must fall within 12 months of the original booking. Subsequent changes incur a €40 administrative fee per change. Rescheduling is subject to bike availability on the new dates.

Cancellation by Ride Iberia: in the rare event Ride Iberia cancels (mechanical failure, force majeure, regulatory closure), the full deposit and any prepaid amounts are refunded within 7 business days. Ride Iberia is not liable for consequential costs (flights, hotels, lost time).

4.Obligations of the Hirer

The Hirer rides the motorcycle with due care, observing Spanish and EU road traffic codes and the recommendations of Ride Iberia’s pre-ride briefing. To collect the motorcycle, the Hirer must present:

  • A valid passport or national identity card (original document, not a copy).
  • A valid motorcycle licence from the Hirer’s home country, equivalent to a standard motorcycle category. We accept licences from any country — no International Driving Permit required.
  • The credit or debit card used at booking, for identity verification of the deposit holder.

The Hirer is liable for all administrative fees, fines and tolls incurred during the rental period (see section 10).

The Hirer is expressly forbidden from:

  1. Riding under the influence of alcohol, drugs, narcotics or medication that impairs reaction.
  2. Using the motorcycle for commercial purposes (delivery, racing, paid passenger transport).
  3. Allowing any unauthorised person to ride. Only riders named on the contract are permitted.
  4. Taking part in any racing, time-trial, track day, training day, rally or competition event.
  5. Riding on circuits, motocross tracks, forest trails, or sustained off-road use. The Ténéré 700 may be used on light gravel access roads only.
  6. Pawning, selling, or transferring the motorcycle, its accessories or documentation.
  7. Travelling outside Spain and Portugal without prior written authorisation from Ride Iberia. France, Andorra, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Italy may be added by request at no extra cost. Morocco, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and non-Schengen countries require explicit written approval and an additional insurance premium.
  8. Subletting, renting, lending or making the motorcycle available for hire to third parties.
5.Obligations and liability of Ride Iberia

Ride Iberia delivers the motorcycle in a technically correct, road-safe and serviced condition. We provide:

  • The motorcycle and registration documents.
  • A pre-ride safety briefing.
  • The damage assessment form, signed by both parties at pickup.
  • 24/7 roadside assistance via a dedicated phone number, in English or Spanish.

Ride Iberia only accepts pre-existing damage that is documented in writing on the damage form at handover. If a repair becomes necessary during the rental period through no fault of the Hirer, the Hirer must contact Ride Iberia before proceeding with any repair work. Any claim for compensation arising from rental defects is excluded unless the damage or loss is due to gross negligence on the part of Ride Iberia.

6.Hirer liability for damage

From the moment of handover until the return of the motorcycle, the Hirer is liable to Ride Iberia for all damage to the bike, including damage caused by the slightest negligence, absence, loss, or improper use.

In case of damage, the Hirer is liable for the cost of repair or replacement, valued by professional assessment and including the reduction of technical and market value of the motorcycle. In all cases the Hirer’s liability is capped at the insurance excess of €450 per incident, provided the conditions of section 8 are met. Burden of proof of any damage rests with the Hirer.

Cosmetic damage: minor cosmetic damage (scuffs, scratches under €150 repair value) at the discretion of Ride Iberia is not charged to the Hirer.

7.In the event of accident, theft or damage

If damage, loss, theft, or an accident occurs:

  1. Stop and secure the scene. Move the motorcycle out of traffic if safe to do so.
  2. Call the Ride Iberia 24/7 number immediately, before calling a tow truck or repair service. We coordinate roadside assistance.
  3. In case of a collision with another vehicle or pedestrian, call the Spanish police (112) immediately. The police report is required for the insurance claim.
  4. Photograph the scene, including all vehicles, plates, road markings, road conditions, and the other party’s documents.
  5. Exchange details with all parties involved: name, ID number, address, insurance information.
  6. Do not admit liability at the scene. Provide a factual statement only.
  7. Send a written report to hello@rideiberia.com within 24 hours, including all photos and details.

Failure to follow these steps may invalidate the insurance and transfer full liability to the Hirer.

8.Insurance coverage

The daily rental price includes full coverage insurance for the motorcycle, with the following terms:

  • Comprehensive damage coverage: damage, accident, fire, vandalism, theft — with €450 excess.
  • Third-party liability: up to €70,000,000 per accident for damage to other vehicles, property and persons.
  • Driver medical assistance: up to €1,200 within 365 days of the accident at Spanish public health facilities and approved private clinics.
  • Driver death compensation: €15,000.
  • Permanent disability: up to €15,000.

Only riders named on the rental contract are covered. The Hirer may upgrade to Zero Excess insurance at pickup for €18/day, which reduces the damage excess to €0.

The Hirer is fully responsible for loss or damage to the GPS unit (if rented separately), helmet, jacket, gloves, pants or other gear add-ons. These are not covered by the motorcycle insurance.

Insurance becomes void if: the rider was under the influence of alcohol, drugs or impairing medication; the motorcycle was used off-road or on circuits; the motorcycle was used outside authorised geographic limits; the motorcycle was used by an unauthorised rider; the Hirer left the scene of an accident; the Hirer failed to notify Ride Iberia per section 7; or the damage was caused intentionally, recklessly or with gross negligence.

9.Pickup and return

The motorcycle is handed over and returned at the time, place, and within the hours selected at booking. Standard pickup hours at the Vigo garage are 09:00–10:00 and 18:00–19:00, Monday to Saturday. Sunday and public holiday pickups can be arranged on request, with an additional €30 out-of-hours fee.

Airport and hotel delivery: Vigo airport (VGO) pickup is included at no charge. Santiago de Compostela (SCQ) and Porto (OPO) pickup is charged per the rate card on the airport pickup pricing page. Hotel delivery in Vigo, Santiago or Porto is also available, same fee structure as airport pickup.

Early pickup / late drop-off: if the Hirer’s pickup is scheduled for a morning slot, the motorcycle may be collected the previous evening between 18:00 and 19:00 at no charge. Similarly, an evening return slot may be returned the following morning between 09:00 and 10:00 at no charge.

Late returns: motorcycles returned more than 30 minutes after the agreed time will be charged an extra full day’s rental. After 24 hours of unauthorised late return, Ride Iberia reserves the right to report the motorcycle stolen.

Fuel: the motorcycle is delivered with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. Refuelling difference is charged at €2.50/litre.

10.Traffic tickets and administrative fines

The Hirer assumes full financial and civil responsibility for all traffic tickets, parking fines, tolls and administrative infractions incurred during the rental period.

If a fine reaches Ride Iberia after the rental period, Ride Iberia will charge the original fine plus a €25 administrative fee per infraction to the card used at booking, and forward the original notification to the Hirer for record and any dispute.

11.Travel, health and trip-cancellation insurance

Ride Iberia provides motorcycle insurance only. We strongly recommend the Hirer takes out separate personal travel medical insurance and trip-cancellation insurance before travel. Ride Iberia offers an optional travel medical add-on at €17/day per rider; this is supplementary, not a replacement for comprehensive travel insurance.

12.Termination, force majeure, governing law

Termination: Ride Iberia may terminate this contract without notice if the Hirer provides false personal or payment details; breaches any clause of these terms; or uses the motorcycle improperly. On termination, the motorcycle must be returned immediately.

Force majeure: neither party is liable for failure to perform due to events outside reasonable control, including natural disaster, war, civil unrest, government action, pandemic, road closures, or strike. In such cases Ride Iberia will offer rescheduling within 12 months or a deposit refund.

Personal data: processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and EU GDPR.

Governing law and jurisdiction: this contract is governed by Spanish law. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Vigo, Galicia, Spain.
